AP Calculus Tutor (In-Person) – Vancouver
About the Role
We are seeking a knowledgeable, patient, and engaging AP Calculus Tutor to provide high-level academic support to a student in Vancouver. The primary goal is to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the rigorous demands of the College Board AP Exams. You won't just be checking homework; you’ll be helping the student master complex conceptual frameworks and test-taking strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Concept Mastery: Explain core calculus concepts including limits, derivatives, integrals, and (for BC) sequences and series.
Exam Prep: Guide the student through AP-style multiple-choice and Free Response Questions (FRQs), focusing on scoring rubrics and "calculator-active" vs. "non-active" sections.
Curriculum Alignment: Ensure tutoring sessions align with the current BC provincial curriculum and the College Board AP standards.
Progress Tracking: Identify specific areas of weakness and develop targeted practice sets to build confidence and speed.
Required Qualifications
Subject Expertise: A strong academic background in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Mastery of both Differential and Integral Calculus is essential.
Academic Track Record: Prior experience taking the AP Calculus exam (scoring a 4 or 5) or formal teaching/tutoring experience is highly preferred.
Communication: Ability to break down the "why" behind formulas, not just the "how."
Reliability: Must be based in the Vancouver area and able to commute for in-person sessions consistently.
